suspension tie rod adjuster
adjust the height of your 2cv with this adjuster. Come in 2 sizes, 8mm and 9mm across the slot. You will need a 24mm open ended spanner for these tools.
The 2cv size is 9mm.
Using a ratchet spanner and a modified adjuster tool.
Modified adjuster with 9mm slot with marks for correct mounting into the ratchet. Modified ratchet spanner, also with 4 peen marks, to aid correct mounting.
Always insert the adjuster with the spanner jaws open at the top. If you turn the ratcheting part without the tool inside it, you can lose the ratchet pawl and the spring, which is located at the bottom where the weld is.
The adjuster and the spanner marks must be on the same side. Adjuster has rotated 180 degrees.
The little flat piece welded to the adjuster tool is covering the ratchet pawl and spring preventing them from flying out.
Place the adjuster tool onto the flats on the tie rod. The flats must be in a vertical plane. Adjust with an open ended spanner to achieve this orientation These flats must be cleaned beforehand. Position the ratchet spanner over the tie rod and slip it onto the adjuster. The centre punch marks must aways match, then the tool will operate correctly. Remember, NEVER turn the ratchet mechanism without the adjuster inserted. Adjust your car height,up or down. Turn clockwise to raise and turn the spanner over to lower and turn anticlockwise. ALWAYS MOUNT AND DISMOUNT THESE TOOLS IN THE VERTICAL PLANE. The small piece welded to the top of the adjuster covers the hole where the ratchet pawl and spring are located as the tool turns.
